On Tuesday, November 29th, the country will be celebrating an event called Giving Tuesday. This event was branded five years ago with the idea that after Black Friday and Cyber Monday when it is about businesses excelling, it is then time to give back to your nonprofit community. Including Kids is looking for everyone who is an Autism Superhero to join our #GivingTuesday campaign!
Last year was our first year to join #GivingTuesday, and we raised over $30,000 to help build our new campus, which is a state of the art school and facility for children with ASD. This year, in the Including Kids way, we are raising the bar! We have a goal of $68,000 in tribute to the One in 68 children that will be diagnosed with autism.
You can be an Autism Superhero by helping us reach our goal!
Our mission is to help make the Houston community a truly inclusive one, one which embraces people on the spectrum, focuses on people’s ABILITIES instead of disabilities, one which creates an opportunity for all!
We know there are many amazing local and national nonprofits, and we have some steep competition, so why you should consider us?
- Is it the fact that we serve children and young adults of all functioning levels, including young adults with aggression?
- Is it the fact that we have worked incredibly hard to create meaningful inclusion bridge sites so, as the children are ready, we can successfully and systematically include them in typical classrooms?
- Is it the multiple job sites we have created for young adults who have a spectrum of abilities?
- Is it the wrap-around services we provide including an emphasis on parent involvement and community skills training?
It is all of the above!
Every day we see so many supports we can give our community, whether it be more community training, new full and part-time services with a particular emphasis on developing appropriate adult programs, or more autism-friendly community events.
Over the past 14 years, we have worked incredibly hard to develop a quality staff that can help meet the needs of the community.
We need your help!
