Who doesn’t like a party? But, a Party 4 Poetry that is thrown by WITS is even better. As you know, we adore WITS, because everyone has a story to tell, and WITS encourages young people to find their voice through the written word and poetry to find their voice to tell their story. In fact, since 1983, Writers in the Schools (WITS) has become is a change agent for arts education. Are you picturing a boring classroom with someone droning on about diagramming sentences? If so, you are in for a welcome surprise because WITS is not your grandparents writing program!
In the vast array or exciting programs offered by WITS, the newest is WITS Performance! This program teaches young people the art of marrying the written word to performance. WITS Performance takes professional performance poets and allows them to work with teens during the school day and after school. These poets help the youth explore and express their truths through writing and performance workshops. Public competitions and slams between the top young poets take place in the spring to elect the Meta-Four Houston team.
