Make-up to a lot of us is just slapping on some red lipstick and some mascara and some eye shadow we found on sale at Walgreen’s. But to Lynda Guerrero, better known as “Cupcake Guerrero MUA” it’s a form of artistic expression and an extension of fashion and style.
Cupcake Guerrero – Makeup Artist
Lynda Guerrero, a makeup artist here in Houston, has loved makeup since she was little. She remembers watching her mother order Avon and watching her beloved grandmother apply makeup. In fact, growing up Lynda was the go-to girl all her friends. They went to her to not only do their makeup but also for makeup tips.
I just had so much fun doing my friends makeup, and it kinda stuck with me.
Lynda perfected her skills on her friends, but it was about five years ago when she did a pinup’s using her friends as models that she realized she had a talent. She began to apply makeup to a few friends and fell in love with the idea of becoming a makeup artist.
I’ve always wanted to do something I’m good at and being creative with it at the same time.
But, it was her husband, a local advertising executive, who encouraged her to take the next step and make makeup a career. Lynda attended GLAM LAB, a makeup school, and it was there that she met her mentor, Darcie Teasley, a well-known makeup artist here in Houston. Teasley works with Page Parks Models, and her work has been seen in The Knot, a bridal magazine.
Darcie Teasley gave me my start. Weeks after the class ended, Darcie called me and asked me to assistant her in a photo shoot. I was like…um yea!”
When Lynda decided to start her business, she didn’t have any trouble coming up with the name, “Cupcake Guerrero MUA.” This is the nickname her husband gave to her when they met, and it stuck and made her stand out from the crowd.
Getting Her Makeup On
Four boys and two male cats later, Lynda is on the rise with her makeup skills. She has worked with many different people in the fashion industry. One being Josue Photography, a well-known fashion photographer in Houston and Ranger_Up a stylist, as well as the photographer, Sarah Miller.

Cupcake Guerrero, MUA now offers makeup services for fashion, print, film, and advertising, as well as bridal and formal events. She’s will also do makeup for destination events and weddings.
I love makeup & I feel like it can be an expression of you feel that day or even bring out your personality.
Lynda doesn’t just believe in applying makeup to express how she feels; she also uses her body as a canvas for art. The tattoos she loves the most are a cupcake, a tube of lipstick, the letter G, and roses.
