It is not only in a great location, but it has the warmth and feel of being at home while still feeling like you are indulging yourself with a stay in a hotel.
La Maison in Midtown
Sharon and Genora met at work and even though their career paths ended up taking different paths, they converged together when they discovered an old run down house in the 3rd Ward by accident. They both knew that they wanted to have a business that was Inn Keeping, and had gone to a conference for five years called, “So, You Want to be an Inn Keeper?”, but they couldn’t find exactly what they were looking for until they stumbled across this property, which was in very sad disrepair.
Their decision to buy in the 3rd Ward was because they knew it was an area that was going to be turning over and there weren’t any other women or, more specifically, African Americans buying property at the time. They both like to be in front of the curve. Getting a loan that was interest only, which they were only able to obtain because of their relationship with their banker, it took them ten years to build it into La Maison in Midtown.
La Maison in Midtown doesn’t even resemble the ramshackle building the two women originally bought. It is quaint and stately at the same time and exudes a quiet elegance, and when you walk in, you immediately feel at home. The decor is homey and comfortable, and nothing has been left out, from pictures on the walls to vases filled with fresh flowers on the tables. La Maison in Midtown has seven rooms and two suites. All the rooms have king size beds, but two of them, which have queens and there is a conference room, which can be rented out for meetings. La Maison in Midtown includes breakfast every morning and urban high tea, which is wine and cheese, and the guests enjoy both.
Every person who works at La Maison in Midtown has another job, from the cook to the cleaner. For instance, Sergio, the main cook is a flutist and Mathew, who is also a cook, is also a musician. Tommy who is a cleaner works for the city. Sharon meets the guests at the door, and she is positive, upbeat, cute, happy, funny, sweet and the perfect person you want greeting you at the Inn. La Maison in Midtown attracts young and old, and it is a relaxed and uninterrupted time where you can feel at home and away from home at the same time.
