This is the week where we all think about our Mother’s, or at least it’s the week before we panic that it’s Mother’s Day on Sunday, and we haven’t done a thing for the woman who raised us, taught us, loved us, nurtured us and cared for us. Because we think that Mother’s just vibe Houston, we are going to devote the entire week to the Mother’s of Houston, or #MothersofHouston. After all, we wouldn’t even be in this world if weren’t for them!
Coolest Gifts for the Mother’s of Houston
When we think of the coolest gifts for the Mother’s of Houston, we don’t think of the traditional flowers and a card, or even breakfast in bed. Mother’s aren’t what they used to be. They are active, involved and on the go, and the gift should be thoughtful and fit the Mom.
Nothing says ‘I love you’ like a handmade gift. We still say this is the BEST gift for all Mother’s of Houston. If you put on your thinking caps, you can come up with some great ideas! For instance, take a deck of cards and write in sharpie on each card a reason why your Mom is so great and why you love her. Paint her a picture with all the words that you use to describe your mother in the picture. Or, just write her a heartfelt letter on how she has influenced your life. This is really what Mother’s Day is all about, telling our Mother’s how much we love and appreciate them, and nothing says it more than ideas that come from the heart.
If you aren’t creative, don’t despair, head over to Pondicheri and pick out a basket of yummy spices, beauty supplies and even clothing to give your Mother. If you haven’t been over to Pondicheri’s, there is an upstairs and downstairs, but it is the upstairs that has a bake shop and sells, all those fabulous spices. If you happen to have one of those Mother’s of Houston that doesn’t cook, don’t despair, grab some spices that smell good together and then a muslin bag and make a potpourri pouch!
For the Mother’s of Houston who are girly girls, but still like to wear their boots, we suggest heading to the Heights and visiting Jubilee. You will find a fresh collection of candles and scents for your Mom, as well as some pretty stellar cowboy boots and Texas trinkets. Definitely worth a look-see if you haven’t been over there, and you might find something for yourself while you are in there.
If you have one of the Mother’s of Houston who loves the art scene, the Museum of Fine Arts Houston has all kinds of great stuff happening over the weekend of Mother’s Day. At 3 pm, be sure to take Mom over to listen to Pianist Francesco Attesti, as he introduces a screening of musical excerpts from a film of Mozart performances, and then enjoy a docent-led tour of High Society afterward. While you are listening to the Pianist, present her with a homemade card!

And, if you don’t want to purchase an unlimited wash package, buy a few washes just so that when she is driving around, she is riding around in style.
