Alvin, Texas, was first known as “Morgan” in honor of Alvin Morgan, the town’s first inhabitant in the late 19th century. 1. Alvin Historical Museum

The Alvin Historical Museum has 20 ongoing displays about Alvin’s history, beginning with the prehistoric period. Visitors can expect to see something different every time they come here because it welcomes temporary exhibits. The building itself is an exhibit because it was a post office before being turned into a museum.

Adults will pay $3 to enter; children under the age of 12 are free.

2. Bayou Wildlife Zoo

Bayou Wildlife Zoo is home to over 500 animals from over 19 nations. You can take a tram ride through the zoo if you do not like walking. You can feed various animals as you traverse 80 acres on a safari-like experience. After your safari excursion, remember to visit the petting zoo.

Each tour group has a guide who shares knowledge about the numerous animals housed in the facility. After your tram ride, you can independently explore the other park areas, such as the alligator ponds and the monkey islands. There is also a picnic area for anybody who wants to bring their own food.

3. Alvin Goat Yoga

Currently, there are only 11 locations that the Original Goat Yoga brand authorizes. However, the fact that one of them is in Alvin is really awesome! On the weekends, they typically provide one or two Original Goat Yoga courses, but for those who aren’t into yoga but still want to interact with the newborn goats, they also offer Goat Happy Hours.

You can practice yoga while enjoying a glimpse of the water because the farm is situated directly on Chocolate Bayou.

You can practice yoga for 30 minutes while watching the newborn goats play, after which you can spend around an hour exploring the grounds and seeing the animals.

It’s advisable to wear a shirt that completely covers your back with at least short sleeves because the goats will jump on your back during yoga.

5. Camp Mohawk County Park

This is a good place for walks, with paths surrounding the lake and trails like the 1-mile Loblolly Pine Trail. Pick up a leaflet to learn more about the flora you’ll encounter on this walk.

It’s a beautiful area for a tranquil stroll and a fantastic location for bird-watching. If you have the appropriate license, you can fish at Lake Mohawk.

Froberg has been cultivating, selecting, and selling the best local fruits, vegetables, and nuts for over 60 years. 

Strawberry picking is their most well-known activity, available from January through May.

The next activity is the blueberry picking season, which runs from May to July.

Arrive here at the crack of dawn and enter the park through the main gate. This is a great spot to take in the sunrise. After passing a Discovery Center, there will be a tiny shelter with a boardwalk to the right.

Parking here will allow you to access the boardwalk. Enjoy the surroundings’ marsh, where gators and all the birds are out and active at this time of day.

Mornings give you an excellent opportunity to observe wildlife.

9. Briscoe Park

The park is well known for its 42 acres of peaceful nature and 18 holes of disc golf, and a walking track. On the illuminated fields, you can play football or soccer.
